Monster's inc: Put That Thing Back Where it Came From!

For the doorway project our main idea came from the film Monster's Inc: The idea of the there being another world on the other side of the door. . . .

Collaboration Brief

I have just been given a brief which involves us working with other people from different pathways: Graphic design, multimedia, illustration and textiles design. I'm actually really excited at the prospect of working with different people who are practitioners in other areas. It gives us an opportunity to use other peoples skills to our advantage.

We have simply been given a door and we can interpret this in which ever way we like, the brief is really open ended, which scares me a little as I like to have some structure or someone telling me what to do, but then again it's a great opportunity to really explore some other areas I'm not totally comfortable with yet.

I've currently been put in a group with Jenny from multimedia, Hannah from graphics and Helen from textiles, all of whom I have worked with in the first year when we were given a collaboration project and we worked pretty well together, so I'm really looking forward to this brief!

'9' by Tim Burton- Coming Soon!

The trailer

Tim Burton's characters in this new film look absolutely amazing! They have a real, classic Tim Burton feel to them, really dark and mysterious. I think its great the way they look as though they have been constructed using real materials or haberdashery. A good example is the main character who has been created with buttons and zips.

The style of the characters really reminds me of the Sackboys from Little Big Planet in the sense that they both have a woven rustic look to them. I really wish I had seen this trailer before I had created my characters as I could have used this as a reference for the ones we were tasked to design.

Weasley Wizard Wheezes! - Nicholas Saunders (Graphic Designer)

A link to the website

This work was produced for the sixth Harry Potter film (Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince) and features products from Fred and George Weasley's joke shop 'Weasley's Wizard Wheezes".

This would have been my dream project as I love the Harry Potter franchise. Although, to be fair, the graphic designer 'Nicholas Saunders' has done a brilliant job. I love the elements which he has used to create these magical products, especially on the 'Weasley and Weasley' image. I think he has captured the characters essence and personality through his use of colour and juxtapositions.
